Participate in an individual capacity in professional and international trade fairs and exhibitions held abroad.
Within this envelope, the Wallonia Export-Investment Agency proposes 2 packages:
- a conventional subsidy for trade fairs and exhibitions
- an SME bonus to encourage SMEs who are participating for the first time in a trade fair or exhibition abroad
The "Participation in trade fairs and exhibitions abroad" support is de minimis aid within the meaning of Regulation (EU) no 1407/2013.
Any Walloon business that is a manufacturer or service provider, developing an international project with added value for the Walloon economy. The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency appreciates the realistic character of this added value.
A business is an entity, irrespective of its legal form, engaged in an economic activity, given that, in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 1407/2013, all entities which are controlled by the same entity are considered as a single undertaking.
The "SME BONUS" (see below) is reserved for SMEs, in the European sense of the term, taking part in a trade fair or exhibition abroad for the first time.
Terms of the contribution
The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency offers companies the opportunity to manage their own action programme over 3 years.
The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency's contribution amounts to a maximum of 50,000 EUR over 3 years per company.
This is a maximum of 75,000 EUR over 3 years for starters (SMEs less than 5 years old).
The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency covers a maximum of 50% of the costs (excluding VAT) of hiring and constructing an exhibition stand from 6 to 50 m2, invoiced by the trade fair or exhibition organiser abroad. The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency's contribution is limited to 200 EUR/m2.
For trade fairs and exhibitions taking place outside the EU, it is possible to ask for a contribution from the Wallonia Export-Investment Agency for travel and accommodation expenses.This will be awarded under the conditions for Mobility Support and included in the total number of permitted trips.
A BONUS (SME BONUS) is given to Walloon SMEs participating in their first trade fair or exhibition outside Belgium. The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency covers 50% of the costs of hiring, constructing and managing a stand (surface area of 6 to 50m²), as well as travel and accommodation expenses for a sales representative sent on site from Belgium for the entire duration of the event (fixed amount).
Conditions of the contribution
Companies must submit their application electronically to the Wallonia Export-Investment Agency before the start of the event.
An advance payment may be made from the date of notification of the grant award decision by the Wallonia Export-Investment Agency.
Payment of the contribution
In the case of applications for incentives submitted from 1 January 2016 onwards which have been the subject of a ministerial agreement, the payment procedure is simplified in accordance with the principle of legitimate expectations.

For applications submitted before 1 January 2016, the settlement conditions set out in the subsidy decree remain in force.
